# Log Center

> Trace who connected to the device and what the system did — filter and search the access and event logs, then export the result

## Overview

Log Center answers three common questions:

- **Who connected to this ARX?**
- **Who changed a setting?**
- **When did the system or an app start failing?**

It's the audit trail for the device, and one of the more useful tools IT has for troubleshooting and audits.

## Access Log

Every connection to the device, with the time, severity, category, the user, the connection type such as HTTPS or SSH, and the source IP.

When you want to know whether an IP has been failing sign-ins repeatedly, or who connected over SSH or HTTPS, start here — including why an address ended up blocked. See [Which connection attempts get blocked?](https://docs.ardge.com/en/knowledge/arx-os/blocked-connections)

## Event Log

What the system and your installed applications did, with the time, severity, category, the user, the application and the message. Use it to reconstruct a change after the fact, or to trace service starts and stops, app events and warning / error messages.

## Narrowing the results

- **Date range** — defaults to the last three months, which is also the most one query can cover
- **Filters** — available on every column except the message. Each option carries its log count, so you can see where the volume sits before you commit to a filter
- **Search** — matches against the message text
- **Severity** — `info`, `warning`, `error` and `critical`

A workable order for troubleshooting:

**Establish when it happened → set the date range → filter by app or user → look at warnings and errors → search for the keyword**

## Exporting

Export as CSV or HTML for IT, support or audit. The export covers exactly what the date range, filters and search have left on screen, up to 65,535 rows, with timestamps converted to the device's time zone.
