# Update

> Check for a new ARX version and install it, covering the OS, K3s, system components and applications

## Overview

Update installs a new ARX OS version and the related system components, covering the OS, K3s, system services and applications. Some phases restart the device, so run it at a time that won't interrupt people's work.

**Check the version → read what's in it → confirm you can update → run it → restart and finish**

## Before you update

Confirm that:

- No important work is running
- The network connection is stable
- Production data is backed up according to your company's policy
- Docker Hub pulls are working

<warning>

The update won't start when the remaining Docker Hub image pull quota is too low. Set up a Docker Hub account on the [Internet Account](https://docs.ardge.com/en/guide/advanced/internet-account) page to raise it — see [What to do when a system update hits the Docker Hub pull limit](https://docs.ardge.com/en/knowledge/arx-os/docker-pull-limit)

</warning>

## Running the update

Keep the power and the network up once it starts. Some services become briefly unavailable, and the device may restart.

## Confirming it finished

After the update completes and you've signed back in, come back to this page or check [System Information > About](https://docs.ardge.com/en/guide/manage-arx/system-information) to confirm the current ARX OS version.
