# Network

> Set the default gateway and its priority, configure each interface with DHCP or a static address, and bind interfaces into a port trunk

## Overview

Network decides how ARX joins your company network, and which IP other computers use to reach it.

For most situations, two settings are all you need to understand:

- **DHCP** — the network assigns the IP. The easiest to set up
- **Static IP** — ARX keeps a fixed IP. More common in a production server environment

<note>

If you're not sure about your company's gateway, subnet mask or fixed-IP rules, ask IT first.

## General

The default gateway, and its priority order when there is more than one interface.

## Interfaces

One card per interface, showing its link status and current address. Configure each one with DHCP or a static address, along with the subnet mask, gateway and DNS.

## Port Trunk (advanced)

When both the device and your network equipment support it, you can bind two or more interfaces into a **Port Trunk** (link aggregation) for throughput or redundancy, or unbind an existing one.

If a first deployment has no specific requirement, start with a single interface.
